Several provincial lines offer transportation by bus to the tournament site.  Orleans Express (1-888-999-3977 offers 8 departures daily from Trois-Rivières, more than 20 from Québec City etc.   You can also contact Greyhound :
Whichever company you choose, your terminus in Montréal is la Gare d’autocars de Montréal.  It connects with the Berri-UQAM metro (subway) station.  To get to the tournament hall (Collège Jean-de-Brébeuf) from there, take the number 2 (orange line) towards Montmorency. Transfer at the Jean-Talon station to the number 5 (blue line) in the direction of Snowdon, getting off at the Université-de-Montréal station. The college is 11 minutes away by foot. Total duration of the trip from Berri-UQAM to the tournament hall : 40 - 45 minutes.
Need lodging ?  Type « hotel de charme montreal » or « bed and breakfast montreal » in your browser.  Discover cozy, intimate and above all affordable places such as Anne ma sœur Anne, Château L’Argoat, Couette and café Cherrier…  Rates are about 80 $ - 100 $ a day for single occupancy and 90 $ - 110 $ or more double occupancy. 
If you are coming from west of Québec (e.g. Gatineau, Ontario) you can enjoy unbeatable rates on Montreal’s south shore, in Brossard near the St Lawrence river at Motel Rideau 450.466.2185  It is 25 minutes away (by car) from college Brébeuf where you can park for free.
If you prefer a more luxurious accommodation, the Maritime Hotel in downtown Montreal, 1.800.363.6255, is located near the Lucien-Lallier metro station. You will be less than 30 minutes away from the Tournament Hall by metro.  Make sure you get their VIP rate (109 $ single occupancy or 119 $ double occupancy) by mentioning “Chess Championship” when reserving !
